Edward Stredney

Introduction

April 2010

Image placeholderOn May 4th, we will have our Democratic primary vote to endorse a candidate to go on and face a Republican in the fall. Getting into this race, I knew I would be facing a conventional political paradigm of money and endorsements that feed a "political machine" mentality. I have been offered money from my opponents, I have been asked to step out of this race. I have been bullied to bow out of this race.

This race is not for me, anymore.

This race is for the family that lives in McKinley Heights, where a father can't find work and a mother drives a school bus (they will be lucky to keep their house for much longer, the bank has already started forclosing.) This is for the family in Hubbard, who has lost both their jobs and their daughter will soon lose her dream house because her parents have taken jobs that are just above minimum wage, because that's all there is.

This campaign is for the grandparents in Lordstown who have four grandkids and one on the way living with them on one property, because grandpa and grandma and son and daughter-in-law all can't find family supporting jobs. This campaign is for the families who are so battered, they can no longer continue the fight on their own.

I will continue to take my message to the streets and I will continue to knock on doors and tell people how I plan on helping to bring jobs to our community. I will continue to call on my supporters to get out there and help their neighbors in need until we can deliver the jobs back to Trumbull County. We need our elected officials to stand up and be active in a renewed, spirited push for job creation and job growth in our hometowns. As your State Representative, I will promise to work and rebuild this valley one business at a time. I believe in the power of the working class and we, as an area, must unite for one common cause:

JOBS, JOBS, JOBS!

It's time we elect a 65th District State Representative that:

Anyone who lives here knows jobs are our number one concern. My wife and I both work fulltime jobs and yet, like many of our neighbors, we live paycheck to paycheck, wondering if we're ever going to save enough money to put our children through college. The solution for our area’s problems is rather simple. Most of our area’s problems are caused by the lack of good paying, family supporting jobs. I have proven that I'm dedicated to job creation and economic development. As a city councilman, I've sponsored and supported numerous pieces of legislation to help create and develop job growth locally.

I thank you for your consideration in the Democratic Party Primary on May 4, 2010 and I look forward to meeting with you soon. In the coming month, I will be hosting a series of open houses in many of the communities in the 65th district.

WYTV, WKBN and WFMJ all ran stories about the primaries: "When Stredney filed to become a candidate, he said he has one thing the other candidates don't. 'Experience,' he said. 'I served a couple of terms on Niles council. I have dealt with big budgets.'" Read at WKBN or WYTV, or watch a video on WFMJ.
